Neurodiversity

Neurodiverse Affirming Counselling

I offer therapy for those who consider themselves Neurodivergent in addition to my Adoption work.

You do not need to have any involvement with adoption to access this support.

---------------------------------------------------------

Living with biological/ neurological differences can impact on people's ability to thrive in a neurotypical society.

If you feel how your brain works is affecting your enjoyment of life, if you are misunderstood in relationships or if neurodiversity causes communication challenges, please get in contact.

You do not need to have a diagnosis, or for this to be the focus for us to work together.

Counselling and therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting or online.

Being neurodivgent and choosing the language used to describe neurological differences is a very personal matter.

My aim is to support you using the words and terms that feel right individually for you.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to access counselling, instead we will work together on whatever brings you to therapy.

Please view the video if you would like to see the entrance and the counselling room at Oast House.

I work with people from varied backgrounds and with different neurological conditions, attending therapy to explore a diverse range of problems.

Some examples of neurodiversity in clients attending therapy include: Autism, ADHD, Dyscalculia, Tourette's Syndrome and Dyslexia.

Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or to book an initial assessment.

The initial assessment gives you an opportunity to meet me, to see if you feel we are a good fit, and for me to ensure I can offer you the support you are hoping for.

How can counselling help?

Life can be challenging at times, and relationships complicated. Counselling is a space where you can explore without judgement, and with someone accepting of diversity and difference in how we experience the world and each other.

Having a regular time each week helps to settle into the process and provides consistency, we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you and learn together the best ways for you to access therapy, using the language and tools which feel helpful.

I will not make assumptions about your hopes and goals and instead I will listen and together we can plan how counselling and therapy can help you reach them.

Counselling differs from other professions such as a life coach, in that it is not advice giving. However I can support you to make practical changes you wish for if that is your hope.

Please contact me if have any questions or if you are unsure if counselling may be helpful for you.
