Adoption Therapy for Adults

A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life.

Counselling and therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting

Claire Crampton

Welcome and thank you for reading.

I am a counsellor providing face to face and online therapy to adults.

We all experience times of difficulty in our lives, when events or relationships feel confusing or overwhelming, or we can feel a loss of direction or purpose.

Adoption can add additional pressure onto a wide variety of different areas in life.

Talking to a trained professional helps us make sense of those challenging times and offers a way through them, moving towards a better understanding of ourselves and our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

I work with people who:

Have experienced adoption themselves.

Are new parents to adopted children and young people.

Or

Are in the process of adopting.

How can counselling help?

Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. As a counsellor my role is to provide space, time and guidance to help to explore your life and any issues you may be facing and to make new, meaningful choices within it.

I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.

My approach to therapy is a Humanistic one. This is a non-judgmental way of working, where the counsellor creates the right conditions to help someone increase awareness and to move towards their fullest potential.

What issues can adoption counselling help with?

People come to me for support with a wide range of issues.

Family tension

Relationship problems

Grief, loss or bereavement

Attachment based issues

Identity confusion

Depression

Anger/ aggressive behaviour

Issues relating to sexuality and/ or gender

Difficulties at work or in retirement

Firstly please get in contact with me, feel free to ask any questions you may have at this stage.

Our next step will be to ensure we both have a day and time we can meet weekly together.

Next we will book in your initial assessment, where I collect some basic information and we discuss your hopes for counselling.

After this we will book in your first session and meet weekly thereafter.

What should I expect?

I offer a calm space to think, be heard and consider your issues.

I will provide a external perspective, while respecting your experiences.

My job is to provide you with a warm, understanding, empathetic and non-judgemental environment to explore and make any changes you are looking for.
